When David faced Goliath, he didn’t timidly say, “If it’s God’s will for me to win, I’ll beat you. I might not win today, but I’m gonna give it my best anyways.” No, He boldly told the giant that he had come in the name of the Lord and that day would be a day of victory for God’s people. He trusted in God’s promises and knew that if he faced the giant with God on his side, he couldn’t lose.

Too many times I’ve found myself praying timidly, worrying whether or not it was in my best interest to overcome the situation at hand thinking that perhaps it was in God’s plan for me to suffer. But now I realize that I have promises of God to trust in and that He doesn’t want to see me oppressed and depressed. What kind of witness is that? How can I testify of His salvation if I’m suffering?

Is everything going to be roses? Nope. Is life going to happen? Absolutely. Am I going to have to face four more giants after I defeat the one before me? Most likely. But can I have victory in Jesus and confidence in Him? Without a shadow of a doubt.

Goliath, watch out, because if God be for me, who can be against me?
